जियां=घातक, चारा=विकल्प, मेहरो-वफ़ा=कृपा-प्रेम, किनाया=संकेत, तशना=प्यास, तल्खी=कडवाहट, आबे तेग=तलवार की चमक
परिचय:
मोहम्मद मीर उर्फ़ मीर तकी मीर (1723 -1810) उर्दू और फारसी भाषा के महानतम शायरों में से थे. मीर का जन्म आगरा में हुआ था. प्यार और करुणा के महत्व के प्रति नज़रिए का मीर के जीवन पर गहरा प्रभाव पडा. इसकी झलक उनके शेरों में भी देखने को मिलती है.

 मोमिन खां मोमिन

करता है कत्लेआम वो अगयार के लिए

तसकीने-इजातिराबे-दिले-जार के लिए

जीना उम्मीदे-वसल पे हिजरां में सहल था
मरता हूँ जिंदगानी-ए-दुश्वार के लिए 

मायने:
अगयार=पराये, अज़ाबे-रंज=दुःख का श्राप, दिले-जार=परेशान दिल, आजार=दुःख, तस्कीन=राहत, इज़तिराब=बेचैनी, रुख्सार=गाल, वस्ल=मिलन, हिज़रा=बिछड़ना

परिचय: हाकिम मोमिन खां 'मोमिन' मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब व जौक के समकालीन थे.मोमिन का दिल्ली में 1800  में जन्म हुआ था. वह कुशाग्र बुद्धि के थे और उनकी स्मरण शक्ति  भी विलक्षण थी. मोमिन को कपूरथला के राजा ने साढ़े तीन सौ माहवार की पेशकश कर अपने दरबार में आमंत्रित किया. मोमिन ने मंजूर कर लिया, तो सफ़र के लिए हज़ार रुपये भी भिजवाए, लेकिन मोमिन को मालूम हुआ कि वहां एक गवैये को भी यही तनख्वाह है तो वहां जाना नामंज़ूर कर दिया.
वह ज़माना शब्द व शब्द के शिल्पी को समझने वाला था. लेकिन बाद में मेहंदी हसन साब ने उनकी गज़लें गा - गा  कर उन्हें वो प्रसिद्धि दिलाई कि उनको इतनी इज्ज़त जीते जी नहीं मिली.

गरीबे-शहर का सर है के शहरयार का है
ये हमसे पूछ के गम कौन-सी कतार का है 

किसी की जान का, न मसला शिकार का है
यहाँ मुकाबला पैदल से शहरयार का है

ऐ आबो-तबे-सितम, मश्क क्यूँ नहीं करता
हमें तो शौक भी सेहरा-ए-बेहिसार का है

यहाँ का मसला मिट्टी की आबरू का नहीं
यहाँ सवाल जमीनों पे इफ्तिखार का है

वो जिसके दर से कभी जिंदगी नहीं देखी
ये आधा चाँद उसी शहरे-यादगार का है

ये ऐसा ताज है जो सर पे खुद पहुचता है
इसे जमीन पे रख दो ये खाकसार का है

मायने:
शहरयार=बादशाह , मसला=समस्या , ऐ आबो-तबे-सितम=ज़ुल्म करनेवाला,  मश्क=अभ्यास,  सेहरा-ए-बेहिसार=जिसकी कोई हद नहीं,  आबरू=मान,  इख्तियार=अधिकार
परिचय=11 मार्च 1944 को उज्जैन में जन्मे कमाल परवाजी की शायरी में नया अंदाज़ और जिंदगी का अनूठा रंग है. उन्हें मुशायरों में दाद भी खूब मिलती है.

परिचय :  इफ्तिखार आरिफ का जन्म  लखनऊ में 21 मार्च 1943 को हुआ था. बाद में वे पाकिस्तान चले गए. वे मुशायरों के कामयाब शयर रहे है और एक दर्ज़न से ज्यादा उनके ग़ज़ल संग्रह प्रकाशित हो चुके है.

परिचय:
१० अप्रेल १९१० को पाकिस्तान के गुजरावाला में जन्मे अब्दुल हमीद का उपनाम 'अदम' था. वे फौज के लेखा विभाग में अफसर थे. उन्होंने शायरी का आगाज़ १८-१९ बरस की उम्र में ही कर दिया था. शुरू में नज्में लिखी लेकिन बाद में तमाम उम्र गज़लें ही लिखते रहे. उनका पहला संग्रह 'नक़्शे दवाम' के नाम से प्रकाशित हुआ था. इसके बाद ४८ संग्रह प्रकाशित हुए है, जिनमे ३० हज़ार से ज्यादा शेर है. ये शेर नजीर अकबराबादी, मीर तकी मीर  से ज्यादा हैं.
